Our Mission

Jamaica’s coral reefs have been in decline for several decades. Bleaching events, disease, overfishing, hurricanes, land runoff and waste dumping are the largest contributing factors. This has led to a loss of over 90% of live coral coverage in Jamaica.

Coral reefs act as natural barriers against swells, waves and storms; protecting beaches and shorelines from erosion. Coral reefs are one of the most bio diverse ecosystems on the planet, supporting more than one quarter of all marine species. They act as nurseries for juvenile fish, and homes for all manor of marine life. Corals reefs are also an integral part of the Blue Economy and Eco-tourism  and must be considered a pilar on which coastal tourism is based off of. 

Reef Construction Limited’s mission is to restore coral reefs through coral restoration projects and programmes.
